Rationale:
We are a small business comprising just 2 self-catering apartments. Many of our expenses are the same whether or not the apartments are occupied. (Business rates, maintenance, advertising, cleaning contract, utilities etc.)
In 2011 our overall income was significantly impacted due to two bookings, of combined total 16 weeks, being cancelled at short notice.
Insurance Cancellation Cover:
From 2012 we are requiring the rental to be underwritten for bookings of more than 14 days.
The existing terms and conditions for short lets, with regard to deposit and refund will remain the same. (ie one third total rent is required to secure a booking, this being refundable (less admin fee) on cancellation, provided a minimum of 30 days notice is given).
Specialist Insurance Services Rothwell & Towler have two holiday cancellation policies available, according to whether or not health cover is required, and we can pass this information on to you, unless you wish to make your own arrangements.
We appreciate that this requirement imposes an extra cost to the guest and therefore, for bookings of more than 14 days, and which are protected by a cancellation policy; we will allow a discount of 5% on the total accommodation rental.
